"I added an entry for the Jesse Malin Benefit Concert Night One that disappeared, and I would appreciate some insight into what happened."

The setlist was reported for deletion as a duplicate because it contained the song performance already entered on the Elvis Costello setlist.

You're a long-time user of the site so you've seen the site programming continue to evolve. Currently, due to the backend pull of information from musicbrainz to this site, "X & Y" artist names don't import properly. Since EC & LW haven't recorded anything together you created the artist as onelongname. "Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams" isn't an artist. It also doesn't connect either individual artist to the setlist The song and show won't show up in the artist statistics, their list of setlist performances, etc. In the future (far away) we should be able to list two artists collaborating and have the setlist show up in both artists statistics/ setlist listings. But we are currently constrained to the site's capabilities now.

Elvis's setlist has the song performance with Lucinda as a guest. There is a Lucinda blank setlist currently that has the EC and JM collar performances in the info note so the show appears in her setlist listings. Lucinda also performed Night 2 of the benefit and Elvis didn't so both artists are attached to the benefit with individual setlists.

I understand it "looks" elegant, but with no functionality/linking, a fake artist name isn't the solve for a one-off single-song performance at a multi-artist event.

Hey poggst, I jus wanted to know if u found any video of the Jane remover show on 12/16/22. I asked over the summer bc I had interest in a complete video of woodside gardens as that is the only performance of that song ever, but idk sum happened n u never got back. Jus wanted an update or this could be a reminder. I jus rly want a full video of that performance, especially that song.

Aha, it was You with the phone recording propped up against the water bottle up at the front! Iconic. Anyways...
The soundscape that can be heard at 3:06 of the album recording of "I Can't Explain" is very nearly the same as what's audible at 5:17 of your video, when the applause dies down at the end of "Angeltread". There is a slight difference- what they used during the concert is pitched down two semitones- but to me it sounds too similar (and too reasonable, given it's the same band and album) to be anything else.
So I think it's that, and it'd be fun to have 'caught' it to include on the setlist, but at the end of the day, it's not exactly mission-critical, so I'll defer to what you think. This doesn't seem like the kind of band people are methodically and fanatically tracking on SetlistFM, so 'accurate and complete' is all a bit relative. ;)
As for any other soundscape interludes, I certainly don't know these guys' catalog well enough to have recognized them, and I don't actually remember any other ones happening anyways. Good addition of "Jingle Bells" onto the Christmas song they played, although that's the way it is in their studio recording of "River", so up to you if that's worth including as a setlist note. Cheers!

Hello Poggst,

I have reviewed the video and concur. If you think its worth mentioning I would add Gregg Bissonette's "Drum Break" at 2:39 when he performed several exciting fills up until the reprise of "Cut The Cake."

0:39 “We Will Rock You” – Queen

0:49 “Come Together” – The Beatles

1:03 “Wipeout” – The Surfaris

1:13 “YYZ” – Rush
1:30 “Rock and Roll” – Led Zeppelin

1:37 “25 or 6 to 4” - Chicago
1:47 “Manic Depression” – Jimi Hendrix
 Experience
2:02 “Honky Tonk Women” – the Rolling Stones

2:16 “Immigrant Song” – Led Zeppelin

2:26 “The End” – the Beatles
2:39 GB Drum Break
3:40 “Cut The Cake” - Reprise - Average White Band

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute.

Poggst,
*Update*... I opened the file with QuickTime Player and Im able to see and listen... I'll get back to you after I've had time to correctly identify all the musical quotes... Best, Trekrap

Hello poggst,
Thank you for sharing the file. I downloaded the file and iI and able to watch the video but so far I'm unable to hear any audio. I'll continue to trouble shoot the problem and my end. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to get the audio please let me know.
Thanks,
Trekrap

Hello poggst,
Thank you for providing clarification and insight on differentiating medley song elements from snippets. Personally, I think of snipers as the musical version of a literary quotation. However setlist.fm does not provision for such a practice. I'm amenable to your approach as proposed and will be pleased to have a recording of the snippets. I look forward to collaborating on the complete description and a future update that accurately and completely documents the performance.

Hello Poggst,
I am working to identify all the songs teased by the All Star Band during the Magical Musical Moment during the Anthem show in Washington, D.C. Are you able to share the audio recording of that part of the show? I believe there are a several songs which are now unaccounted for as a result of the changes taken by a contributor that disagreed with the entries and elected to redact edits we each made to the setlist. With the assistance of the audio recording I intend to make a comprehensive update that clearly documents all the musical quotes presented by Lukather and Bissonette.

The following is my original draft for the setlist update. Due to word count limitations I elected to use the medley, feature and enter each snippet as part of a grand medley of tunes. Apparently this approach was disagreeable to one contributor.

Ringo’s Tea Time - Magical Musical Moment - Ringo exits the stage for a brief respite while the All Star Band performs numerous popular song covers in rapid succession to the delight of an enthusiastic audiance.
1. “We Will Rock You” - Queen
2. “Come Together” - The Beatles
3. “Peter Gunn” - Henri Mancini
4. “Wipe Out” - The Surfaris
5. “Honey Tonk Women” - The Rolling Stones
6. “Whole Lotta Love” - Led Zeppelin
7. “Gallows Pole” ? - Led Zeppelin
8. “Immigrant Song” - Led Zeppelin
9. “Rock and Roll” - Led Zeppelin
10. “Manic Depression” - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
11. “25 or 6 to 4” - Chicago
12. “YYZ” - Rush
13. Other Drum Riff Intros ? - ?
14. “The End” - The Beatles

I am unaware of any setlist rule mandating that an entry must comply with a prior setlist. AS far as I know the rules are that contributors are encouraged to enter what’s they remember from a particular show. Consequently, I plan to present a detailed update to a moderator and propose that it be instated as a part of the permanent record of the show and going forward remain unaltered. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

This is jus a reminder in case u forgot ab the Jane 12/16/22 show, just uploading the video to like yt would be cool

If you could upload that video on YouTube of the show that would be amazing, it would be the only full recording of woodside gardens

The live version of this song is amazing and it should be fully archived

Ab woodside

The song was played in it’s entirety (extended live version completely different than teen week version)

She started the song saying sum like “yk what day it is”, and when someone said the 16th the song started playing

There is a video of it online but it’s cut in the middle

I saw u were at the Jane remover show where she played woodside gardens, did y happened to get a full uncut video of the song or know anyone who did?

thanks, poggst. I realize that Luke71's hand may be tied here. Given that musicbrainz shows it both ways and that I provided the image of the 45, I would have hoped that was sufficient. I appreciate your advice about appealing to musicbrainz. It is just a day where (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. peace

No worries. It's all good! Appreciate the reply!

Hi there. I noticed on the Alanis Morissette show for 06/30 you said you had audio of the show. Did you happen to record the whole show and if you did, any chance I could get a copy? Thank you!

Look at the comment from a Moderator on your page from September 14, 2023 and the comments made on the setlists by a Roadie if you are actually interested.

Glad you restored the Morrissey intro list from 10/18/23 in DC. I hope it sticks.

hi - thanks for your reply and for making the change!

hi, thank you for your considered comment.

thing is, setlist.fm's database already covers this use case as far as i'm concerned! the song are hyperlinks. using the roundhouse one that i went to just last month as an example the pie chart will tell me what albums the songs came from, and in particular that that 11 were 'others'. clicking on a song name, either from the main set list or a pie chart, takes you to a page about that song, which automatically says when and where it was first played in concert.

it's true that the database would be nicer if it knew a little bit smarter than it is about album assignments, but that isn't exclusive to instances of unrecorded songs. on the sisters setlists', you wouldn't notate doctor jeep / detonation boulevard as being "@Info[Medley of two songs from Vision Thing]" - would you?

it's true that the guideline i quote was not actually about the first play, but the very next one in the list at the page is this

"Info related to the songs, but not the specific concert"

The first date a song played is this type of information. It is not related to the concert.

There appears to be a relatively consistent principle in the Guidelines, which is common to any sort of large well-maintained database, which is to avoid redundancy and trust to the database to work out secondary information where it has that data. if we were appropriate to manually put in this sort of stuff as @info[] tags to these songs it would be appropriate to add them to /every single gig that they have been played/ - i hope you can see this would be unmaintainable.

hi, i did not "vandalize" "your" setlist. please read the guidelines

https://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#infos

in particular see this section:

"Additional information not allowed:

Last time played. This could change with each new concert."
