By not doing the corrections I ask for, several songs will remain in the OTHER section and that makes it very hard for me.

As of lately, two times at least, I changed the name of the release and used an album by some random band that had the same name as an other album by another band (that has nothing to do with the other band I had been working on) just in order to assign several OTHERS songs to it.

I waited a few days to tell just in order to forget them so you wouldn’t revert it. I’m planning on doing this again right now.

These two songs http://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/joe-strummer-and-the-latino-rockabilly-war-73d66ae1.html?song=Trash+City
http://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/joe-strummer-and-the-latino-rockabilly-war-73d66ae1.html?song=Nothin'+About+Nothin'

were released on the soundtrack of PERMANENT RECORD
https://www.discogs.com/Various-Permanent-Record-Music-From-The-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack/release/4600753

This album of course can’t be imported but I can use some other albums called PERMANENT RECORD such as
https://musicbrainz.org/release/ff5769ec-04cc-4297-b863-2462c28b7a94
https://musicbrainz.org/release/2d7b8496-1bb9-4fbe-ad40-f7dc99a3816f

We have the possibility to change the artist of the release. I like twisting the guidelines as much as I can, make it wrong as can be just in order to make it look right.

If you dont’ answer back, i’ll do it tomorrow and if you do answer back telling me not to do so, I’ll do it anyway.

We should rather investigate why the album can't be imported than assigning wrong albums.

You sound like as if we were working against each other. That's not the case. There are currently not a lot of guidelines for roadie features as roadies are trusted users. Every doubt and loophole in the guidelines should be discussed, not exploited.

Please don't assign wrong albums. It's a bit paradox, you're doing loads and loads of edits to right the wrongs while often criticising other users that assign songs to wrong artists. And now you're going to do assign wrong albums on purpose? This makes no sense to me.

On festivals with multiple venues, instead of an Add Setlist link on each day defaulting to the first/latest/random venue added to the festival, the link could instead show a dropdown list of venues assigned to the festival. Unlike the edit date/venue/songs dropdown lists, this list could stay active after the first click, allowing you to open multiple tabs adding setlists to the same date and chosen venue.

That's true, the first/latest/random bit should be improved.

Any ideas why these setlists appear in a text search of “2017″?

The answer is: yes. Both artist's mbid contain “2017″

Is it a good thing to support partial mbids in searches? No, not really.

When dumping a festival's lineup into setlist.fm, often artists aren't in the setlist.fm database and I skip that artist. I sometimes wonder whether this artist already exists on mb, and simply hasn't yet been imported to setlist.fm. eg. FarOut has only 7 gigs from the 17 artists who appeared at the festival, and this is a shame that we are archiving only partial information of the festival.

Once an unrecognised artist has been entered into the Add Setlist page and the page submitted, the error “Artist is required.” appears. Instead of this message, could setlist.fm search the mb database for an artist of that exact submitted name, and depending on the result offer the message “This artist is not yet in the setlist.fm database, import from Musicbrainz now?” (with a link to import) or “This artist is not yet in the setlist.fm database or Musicbrainz database. Add it to Musicbrainz?” (with a link).

Mostly I'm wondering how feasible this option could be – no real rush on a solution/implementation. What do you think?

The idea is nice and could definitely be an improvement for the user experience. But there are a couple of issues why this might not be a feature we'll see anytime soon:

1. Importing by name is delicate. Even if there is only one match on MB, chances are that it's the wrong artist. I don't have data to back this up, but I suppose that users would be satisfied just to have any artist of the correct name selected so that they can finally submit the form without an error.

2. Nested forms are very complicated for users to grasp. See e.g. the “add festival” form. Sending them to a separate page makes it much more obvious.

3. It's quite an effort to build it into the current form. But it could be worth keeping in the back of ours heads for any future add setlist form

How about the ability to export setlists to spotify, deezer, etc?

While there are no official ways to do so, there are some user made websites out there that to exactly that. E.g. Spotify's very own Paul Lamere created the The Set Listener that creates spotify playlists out of setlist.fm links.

Is there a pattern?

Whenever I want to add a cover tag to 12 interpretations of a song by a band, the auto-format won't be working at all so I'm going to have to write them all or copy/paste it.
It only works when you change a letter or something. You can try to just erase a letter but that'll suggest the title of the song in its entirety but not with the cover tag.

Any chance you could make the text year input for festival start/end date field default to the number-only keyboard on mobile devices?

I've been wondering about this for a while – what about a Map/By Country feature for songs?

eg. Interestingly, this song has only been played in Brazil, where Colin Hay has a cult following that even he's not certain how it arose
Or these iconic Australian songs – it would be cool to be able to quickly see when/by who/where they've been played outside of Australia.

The search engine song tag doesn't really work for this purpose, as you can see.

I understand that this type of information pulling is what the API is there for, but I think that there are some greater ways for statistics to be represented on the website itself.

Hello,

i have a problem with my edits between 07/07 an 07/12. Since two days they are not displayed correctly in the overview of the artist.
But i can find them in the tour section with the correct number of shows and my Edits are not away??!!

Hopefully it was understandable what i mean and it would be grateful if somebody can help me.
Thanks!
