Hey, in regards to the DRI set, it was from memory. The rare few times i've seen the physical set-list, I've marked it as such.
Be well!
Hey rreett,
Thanks for the heads up regarding shortening YouTube links. I’ll try to not put links with Google’s tracker as a source from now on.
hi, as regards my experiences with Spot and Raszabrae. He had produced their album and was the tour manager. I had contacted them asking for an interview. We met up in the balcony room upstairs at the Rat in Kenmore Sq. I brought a cassette machine from WJUL 91.5fm where I was an on air disc jockey and promotions manger for the station. The interview tapes if they still exist would be in the archives at the University. The only question that I can remember asking was about the album title. Cheap Happiness or Lofty Suffering ? Spot said it came from reading Dostoefsky's novels. The band played Children of the Grave as the set closer. My impression was that their singer moved over to play the floor tom in unison with their drummer. The rest of their set was songs on the album. A couple nights later, there was a second show in Allston up the street at Johhny D's,which still exists as Common Ground. In those days, the jukebox would be unplugged and rolled into a corner and the bands set up on the floor. A couple weeks later I interviewed Greg Ginn after Black Flag played at Brandeis University. I think I just called SST and asked if anyone was available. Greg just grabbed a towel and sat down right after their set, super happy that somebody wanted to ask him about music and promote the band.
no problem! have a nice day!
Hello rreett,
As a general rule, the proper and correct procedure is to post it to the forum, just as you did last time.
However, if you need to ask for something directly, it's more reliable to ask Admins/Mods.
Take care.
Psst... here's another rare Minutemen show, this time from June 1981. Only known live recording of Song For El Salvador to my knowledge. https://pixeldrain.com/u/Ym7hLnbb
Hey! Thanks for letting me know. I asked Jon about it one of the times I met him in new york and he said it was the other way around (something along the lines of them having written the song "for" MxBx), but good sleuthing on your part.
I think you can batch edit by going to the song page and clicking "wrong album assigned" to submit a report, but then you don't get the edits
Hello again:
Here's that Minutemen show you asked for:
Hello,
Just saw your comment about a recording of Minutemen at Great Gildersleeves on March 13, 1983. I'll put that show up on MEGA in a few hours.
Hahaha it's totally all right! I really appreciate your well wishes, and I hope the new year is treating you and your loved ones well! :) Regarding "Bumper Sticker Commercial", since it wasn't an actual song, but a scheduled break in their set where they passed out bumper stickers and encouraged fans to put them around town, I think the best course of action to take is to add an intermission in its place and include a note with it explaining what the band was doing. I can make that edit after I post this comment.
Hello! Sorry for the delayed response! Haha I'd hardly call myself the main authority; I'm just a fan of the band's work. You've done more for the band's setlists on here than anyone else I've seen in recent years! And I'd be happy to share my opinion on a few things!
1. Upon listening to the recording, I would say that it should be listed as a note rather than as an individual song. It was more of a brief tease than anything else. This site has a section of guidelines for snippets that's really helpful to reference in situations like this: https://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#setlistSnippets
2. Any arrangement that isn't based on the studio version from 3-Way Tie (For Last) and/or is drastically different from it should be noted, I think. I would consult this set of the site's guidelines regarding additional information that can be added as song notes: https://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#infos
3. I believe the latter of your suggestions would be the correct one. The song was released on What Makes a Man Start Fires? as "East Wind/Faith", and because the songs all have to be listed under their officially released titles, just adding a note pointing out that the first half of the song was omitted is the best solution. I encountered a similar situation a few years ago with Neutral Milk Hotel's song, "The King of Carrot Flowers, Pts. Two & Three", where only Part Three was played at most 1996-97 shows.
4. Yes, I saw that you made those edits! Even though I've listened to the recording that's featured on Ballot Results plenty of times, I could never figure out what that song was. I always thought it was some sort of a live improv or maybe an unreleased song of theirs. Thank you for figuring out what it actually was! :)
Though I don’t have Fantômas setlists, I have pics of the setlists used for the Secret Chiefs 3 East Brunswick and Corner Hotel shows that have the unreleased ‘New Ishraqiyun’ song listed as ‘Afghan(m?)’ if they are of any use.
I don’t think I have any pics of Fantômas setlists, I was just a mad live show trader of Fantômas, Melvins, SecretChiefs3, Mr.Bungle in those days.
I don’t know how Fantômas listed Delirium Cordia parts on setlists, but Patton said they would be playing ’sections’ live (as opposed to entire album) in an interview when Delirium Cordia was being released…
Sorry I can’t help more!
Hello,
You put a comment on @victor1909 profile to have the Gummo setlist from 2024. I have a picture of it. Where can I send it to you ? Here's my email : maryed@hotmail.fr
